The tracing paper I tested was old and without the box. So, I don’t have information on what grade it was. If you’re able to find some in 1-sheet it’d be cheap enough to buy and try a few. You can find more information on projection materials on nuigroup as well: http://nuigroup.com/forums

Hey Seth,

When you bought your tracing paper did you look for any specifics? There’s all sorts of different GSM papers and then there’s others which range in thickness by microns, what sort of paper did you try here?

You’ll need a “hot mirror” to block the IR from the projector. You can search http://nuigroup.com/forums for “hot mirror” to read more about it.

i have used a projector, and finally made the screen for the DI table. But, the projectors light is blocking the cameras views. So am not getting the desired output. What must be the reason?

Seth, I have been using Vellum since I first started building my table and have been very happy with the performance. It is pretty much the same as tracing paper from my understanding. I have ordered all of the Roscos discussed on NUIGROUP.com just for testing and confirmation.

Thanks for a gr8 blog and some very helpful info. I was not aware that Rosco blocked outside IR.

Hi joe,

I did consider the Lee frost filter, but found a screen that blocks ambient IR is a better choice for FTIR. Tim uses the Lee Frost on his DI table. I may be adding in DI later though so I might try some of the Lee filter as a projection screen then. The benefit of the Rosco is that it blocks outside IR light so it’s better to use something like that for an FTIR screen.
